Important Notices For All Anglers
It is requested that anglers ensure that all nets, weigh slings, unhooking mats and stink bags are dried completely, in direct sunlight if possible, between fishing any venue. There have been a number of outbreaks of Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) throughout the country, and in particular in South Yorkshire. This virus is easily spread on any equipment which makes contact with infected waters and causes large scale fish fatalities, especially in species of the carp family. There is no known cure for the disease so any fish which aren't killed by the virus may still act as carriers to spread the disease and may be present in waters which, up to now, haven't yet to been confirmed infected sites. If anglers do not ensure all nets, ect. are dried completely, the virus may spread to club waters, causing fish stocks to be wiped out.
Kirklees (Clifton) Lagoon
Following a meeting between the club, Brighouse Police and Calderdale Council, members fishing this venue must not confront people committing 'illegal activities' or allow violence to take place. If you do witness such 'activities' taking place, please report it to us by emailing email@example.com, including your name, address, date and time and the location. This information will then be passed on to Brighouse Police and Calderdale Council for them to follow up. Please note that complaining to our bailiffs to report the incident is not sufficient as all the reports are coming from one person and are dealt with by the authorities as just being one incident, we need complaints from individuals for action to be taken.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL ANGLERS
It has come to light after a recent Predator Workshop meeting in Goole which was attended by our Club, the E.A., Natural England, The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Leeds University and others groups that we under a great threat from Signal Red Crayfish getting into our still waters from the rivers. Signal Red Crayfish are currently in EVERY river system in the UK and the chances of them being transferred in to our lakes on damp landing nets and keepnets is now a very high risk. The eggs and tiny crayfish larvae can survive for many days on wet or damp nets.
Therefore we recommend that ALL anglers who use keepnets let their nets completely dry out before fishing between rivers and lakes. The treat is so great that that we strongly recommend that members who regularly fish rivers and lakes should have 2 keepnets - 1 for the use in rivers and 1 for lakes. Keep them separate at all times and this will minimise the risk of transferring the crayfish.
If you 'dip' your keepnet at certain venues it is recommended that it should be for a minimum of 15 minutes to be certain of killing all unwanted diseases, eggs and larvae. A quick dip is not sufficient to kill everything.
We will keep you updated when we receive more information about this.
