A
one and half acre well establised lake. A small settlement
lake feeds the lake and drains off to the Gratrix lane
pond. Depths vary from around 6 to 22 feet, and most
pegs on the nearside are well dug and maintained. Care
should be taken on the far side of the car park until
suring work is completed and new pegs are made. The
main species present are Roach and Perch and can be
caught from any peg, high in the water in summer and
at around 10 - 16ft in the winter. Most pegs can find
a depth of 16 feet deep at around 8 meters from the
bank.. Skimmers and occasional large bream can be caught
on the bottom, with Bream specimens reaching around
the 5lb mark. There are some very large tench in this
lake to 5lb plus, and can be caught from the far bank
in the pegs near the garages. Also some large common
carp are stocked in this lake to around 15lb with an
odd big fish to around the 20lb mark, where meat is
the best bait for the Tench and Carp to avoid smaller
fish. Eels are common under any overhanging bushes
or near the reedmace to worm or white maggot.
